David Sylvester has been playing drums since the early age of 5 when his parents bought him his first Mickey Mouse drum kit. He comes from a long line of musicians, as his uncles have recorded multiple albums in Mexico. David grew up playing the drums along with all of his older relatives as they had jam sessions in their homes during family gatherings. He played in the drum line from junior high through college, as well as in the jazz ensemble. He has performed with local bands since the 80s and has also been involved with studio work, playing drum tracks for various recording artists. David’s talents cross through multiple genres including country, jazz, blues, classic rock, and Latin. David loves to worship, and is currently an intrinsic part of the worship team at his home church, Encounter Road, where his wife, Cheri, is a pastor and the director of women’s ministries. With over 40 years of experience, David would like to pass on his talent and love of music to future worship leaders.
